Phosphorus: Lessons from 10+ Years of Numeric Standards for Wisconsin's Waters
Tuesday, February 7, 2023
8:30 am - 5:30 pm
Monona Terrace, Madison, WI
The Center for Water Policy at UW-Milwaukee is co-hosting a day-long, statewide retrospective on Wisconsin’s phosphorus rules – analyzing implementation, compliance, and impact. We aim to connect academic researchers with professionals working on water issues, agricultural and conservation professionals and agencies, farmers and producers, policymakers, and the public. The conference will feature research and case studies to foster discussion around policy mechanisms that address the ongoing challenge of phosphorus pollution. We hope this conference will help inform a research agenda for the next decade and beyond. Join us in February to learn about Wisconsin’s leading efforts to regulate and manage phosphorus!
New York Times best selling author Dan Egan will present the keynote address over lunch in conversation with Center for Water Policy Director Melissa Scanlan about his forthcoming book, The Devil’s Element: Phosphorus and a World Out of Balance.
Lunch will be provided at no extra cost (please be sure to indicate any dietary restrictions with your ticket registration).
Conference Agenda and Speaker Bios along with more conference details can be found here.
